Character Animation with Walkerman
Well, everybody, today you are in for a real treat. I was just contacted by the author of Walkerman, Shawn Daniel Irwin, who allowed me to put his tutorials on the website. Well, I didn't know the plug-in so far, so I went and checked it out and I just have got to say: this is a great plug-in, a must have actually. It allows very easy and fast walking animations and is reasonably simple to use. Enough with the talking already, have fun animating! Make sure to read the install notes though or you might not get it to work at all ;-)
About the plug-in
(taken from the original description)
This is a MEL program that automatically animates Biped, Quadraped, Bird, Centaur, and a Spider without using IK or any of that other crap that takes forever to set up . . . In this case, all you do is click a button on the shelf, choosing a biped or quadraped, and it creates the skeleton for the character AND when you press the play button the character walks or runs. The quadraped also hops or gallops. It is all done via MEL, so it does not require any fooling with IK, and it has "Stabilization" (it adds bones that allow the character to move freely without major distortions in the character skin), which minimizes having to paint skin weights.
You can download it here
Thanks to Steve for this great plugin and tutorials :)
If you have any questions about the program, although I think it is almost self-explanatory, feel free to contact the author.
